  • I was in the bus on the way home from school just now when I overheard the conversation of 3 students. I would like to think that I did not eavesdrop, as they were sitting directly behind me and yes, talking loudly too for the whole bus to listed to their conversation. From the topics of their conversation, I summed up that they were first year polytechnic students.

These three students were lamenting how there were no couples in their class and in their own words, they found it surprising. I can't help but be amused at that as it kind of reminded of my jc days...you know, the conversations that we often engaged in. From the tone of their voices, it occurred to me that they were actually looking forward to any of their classmates hooking up with each other. I guess it is just a way for them to find something to gossip about and something to look forward to when they are in school. Listening to them, I do find their conversations ridiculous and comical at the same time and it really made me wonder if I sounded exactly like that when I was their age! Now, being a year away from adulthood, I hope I do not sound like that anymore whenever I speak in public transport. Heh.

And then this guy was saying how he qualified to go to a junior college but refused to do so. His reason was that he would only want to go to VJC as it was one of the best schools and other schools are lousy. To me, he was being just a show-off! His friend asked why he did not go to yours truly's alma mater and he had the nerve to say that the school is not good....as Vj, of course. What audacity! Don't get me wrong, I'm not that loyal to my school or anything but I do think that we are good enough okay. To add to his rather inadequate knowledge of the JC system as well as their respective rankings, this same guy refused to believe that my alma mater is one of the top 6 JCs in Singapore. I hate his guts, I tell you as he was being so arrogant and highty-mighty (if there;s ever such a word).

I was so tempted to turn back and tell him, "You think your poly that good meh? In case you don't know, it has a very screwed up system and for your info, I was from that jc." Kids nowadays, they really don't know how to be humble. tsk tsk.

That brings me to the point of everyone thinking that I'm very bitchy, including my classmates, not in the cruel kind of bitchiness but in the animated kind. Er, but am I really that bitchy? I mean, I thrive in sarcasm and am sarcastic, but that doesn't mean that I'm bitchy, right? Right.

Oh yes, I really need a school bag as of today as the zip in my current school bag gave way and cannot be used anymore. And I find it very difficult to find nice bags which fit into my budget. Looks like I have to go bag-hunting over the weekend.

Oh one more thing, and I think it sounds a bit whiny, but don't say I didn't warn you. Why is it that tertiary students do not get a holiday for youth day? After all, we are in an age of youthfulness. We are the epitome of being a youth. Oh stop whining, Fathiah! It's not going to change anything.

  • I'm very irritated at the moment as my laptop or rather my printer, for that matter, simply refuses to print and I have no freaking idea what is wrong. And this freaking laptop of mine is always low on battery. The battery life is supposedly 3 hours but it needs to be charged in less than an hour. Talk about inconvenience! And the reason why I bought a laptop is so that I do not have to rely on electricity. Sheesh. I'm just so irritated and when I am, everything will just get on my nerves and I'll get bitchy! It doesn't help that I'm one hot-tempered and easily irritated lady! Sometimes, I really think that I need anger management classes!

  • The chalet was a whole lot of fun albeit a scary encounter. Will elaborate on it more later.

So I reached the chalet at about 9 on Wednesday night. The chalet was just in front of the entrance and the swimming pool. Of course we couldn't resist the water and decided to swim at close to 11 at night. My cousins and I did not really swim but you know, we just want to soak in the water. The water was very nice and warm. The adults of course didn't allow us to go beyond the baby pool section but we decided to to go to the 1.5m section of the pool. It was a funny sight as all of us were embrace in a circle and allowed ourselves to 'drift' to the deeper pool.

Then we decided to go to the other side and went down the slide. I think we were making a lot of noise that the lifeguard or whatever you call him, came riding in his bicycle and told us to exit the pool. Something like the pool is closed and to not take any risks. Hisyy, that guard spoil market only. I mean although I understand his concern about our safety, what can possibly happen in a 0.7m pool? So we went out of the pool and waited a bit more before going inside again. We got caught again, went out, waited for him to be gone and went in again. When we saw him again, we practically dashed out of the pool again! We just do not want to admit defeat do we?

After that, we dried ourselves and went down to play Spongebob Squarepants Monopoly. Gosh, we took about 3 hours to play, without anyone going bankrupt! Of course, there were some underhand negotiations taking place. We got sick of monopoly and went on to play Taboo and charade. Okay, more like passing down the 'message' only through actions/acting. By then, I think it was almost 5 in the morning.

The boys were already in La-La land by then, and it was only us girls left. So we played 007, our favourite Achi-Achi game, telephone game and Jenga. Time check: 6.30am. We went up to pray and some went swimming again. So as you can see, we did not sleep the whole night. finished swimming at 8am and off we went to Pasir Ris Park to blade. We took about an hour and went back to the chalet to wait to check out and move to another chalet. While waiting,we ate breakfast, as usual, we talked nonsense and played monopoly again. Just as the game was about to get more fun, we had to pack up and check out, and yes, abandon the game.

By the time we settled down in the other chalet, this time, a bungalow, as compared to terrace garden the previous night, it was almost 12+. All of us were dead tired by then and took a short nap. We finally woke up at bout 2.45pm, waited for our lunch, while some took turns to bathe. While waiting for the barbecue to start, we played 3 rounds of Bridge and 2 rounds of Bluff. Then we went out and played Ice and Water with the small cousins and taboo again. Then it was time to eat and we cousins prepared a game for the uncles and aunts to play - How well do you know your partner game.I tell you, it was super noisy, and that was when my grandmother and an aunt felt weird.......

Needless to say, my grandmother did not allow us to sleepover that night as there were no 'big' guys around and well, she did not feel right that moment. The plan was that she wanted to stay for the night but after feeling that something was not right, she decided to go home. So the adults went home first and some of us cousins stayed on and left at about 1 in the morning.

We played murderer and detective, 7UP, complete the word game etc. It got very warm in the hall and we decided to go back into one of the rooms for air-con. In the room, we talked some more and I actually did go into the toilet and truthfully, I was very scared, something I've never experienced before. Well of course I thought nothing of it and we decided to leave at about 1.

It was not until the next morning when I got to know that my cousins felt weird too. Scared, of course but everyone decided to stay calm. We were just thankful that we had not stayed over. I wonder what would have happened then.

As you can see, we were not bored at any moment and we always had games to play. Lethargy only sets in the next day where lack of sleep decides to take a toll on all of us.

  • Oh, you know something quite scary happened on Monday. Well, I do not know if it was that scary lah. You see, I came home from school at around 6. I went to to do my routine activities such as reading the newspaper, bathe, eat etc. At about 11+ at night, my sister went out to the corridor to bring in the dried laundry. Lo and behold, she was so shocked when she saw my keys at the door, tantalising any stranger to turn the key and get into the house. Trust me, I did not even realise that I had left the key outside. What made it worse was that the door was not locked from inside throughout the 5 hours. Thank goodness, no uninvited guest came in the house. I guess it helps that my house is at the corner, hidden from view.

When my parents were away, I realised that household chores are never-ending. What with the laundry, to cleaning up the kitchen, to washing dishes, to sweeping the house, as well as mopping the floor. After completing all these tasks, you will realise that half the day is gone! But I kind of love it when I have the whole house to myself. Finally some peace and the house is spick and span. Now that my parents and brothers are back, the house is just so messy with their stuffs lying all around.

Two days of the holidays gone, and I still have not done anything substantial to catch up with my school work. This break is supposed to be a study break right, a break for students to study or a break from studying? I would very much prefer the latter but we all know that what the reality means.

I'm only going to the chalet later at night since everyone is still tired from the trip as they only reached home at about 11+ last night.

  • I had a very fun weekend. Started off Saturday with driving and went to Giant to buy lots and lots of junk food since my mum is not around until tomorrow night. Then went home to get ready for the bbq. The bbq was alright but the weather was freaking hot and i doesn't help that I was in front of the fire most of the time, smelling of charcoal. Not a very nice smell, considering the fact that I am one who is very particular about smelling sweet and nice. And yes, I am guilty of bitching about people who just smell unpleasant. Such a turn-off!

This was practically the only picture I took all night. I'm not a big fan of taking pictures, I admit as I just don't look nice in pictures or in person, for that matter. Some inferiority complex, I have, huh?

Then on Sunday, my cousins came over to my house and we had our own mini steamboat. Another cousin bonding session. We just can't get enough of that, can we? I'm sorry that some people might not like it as we just like to live in our own little bubble. It brings us happiness to be able to confide in one another, so why be so sore about it? We're family after all and blood is definitely thicker than water. A thousand apologies if it really irks you that we have such a close-knitted family.

I had to go back to school just now to do our CP presentation. Something about pulmonary TB in HIV patients. Glad that my group members and I were able to complete everything, just the compilation part. Such efficient workers we are!

Now I can't wait for the chalet where the cousins have planned some activities and games for the kids as well as the adults.Oh Wednesday, pls come soon!

  • My 2 weeks break is finally here! I would have to say that it's not really a break as I have a million things to do - that much. One crazy week with 3 tests are finally over. But another million tests coming up after the break. I've really turned into a mugger-toad.

Aside from that, I need to shop and buy shoes, tops and bags - basically everything. To support my uncontrollable shopping habits, I've taken up a tuition assignment, but only once a week. Actually, she's my sister's tutee but has since passed the job to me. A little extra allowance every month would not hurt, you know. As for now, I'm struggling to save money, pay my handphone bills, feed my shopping sprees as well as have enough money to eat in school since I spend more time in school than home.

And I'm really looking forward to the barbecue tonight. Finally, I can meet my friends. And how can I forget about the family chalet I'll be having next week? Loads of fun, I hope. This also means that I'll be eating carcinogenic food twice in a matter of less than a week. Oh bother, but do I look like I care?

  • Alhamdulillah, my cousins's engagement went smoothly. I, too, definitely had a great time, spending time with the cousins, talking and cracking the lamest jokes one could ever imagine.

The food, courtesy of my aunt, was just finger-licking good. The fruit tarts and brownies were simply fabulous. Of course, I ate to my stomach's content, to the extremes of ultimate buncitness.

My aunts and uncles got a bit high and I would say a bit hung up on welcoming in-laws to the family while they are still strong and healthy. None of us cousins was spared from their endless teasings on when to get engaged/married. They even went to the extent of volunteering to find for us potential suitors! That's a surprise to me, considering the fact that they rarely talk about such issues openly. Making a joke out of it is normal, but not seriously talking about it. I guess they can finally see that we are no longer the little kids we once were.

At night, we itchy-legged cousins wanted to go out to watch a movie but received strong objections from the elders, citing reasons that there a a lot of gangs and drunk people in town at night. The only place we were allowed to go....airport. How boring right?

Of course, we had to come up with ways to entertain ourselves, what more, other than taking pictures....

Boys certainly have no idea how to pose for the camera...tsk tsk

    All of us cousins

Thank goodness school starts at 1 tomorrow!
